Bauhaus at the Barbican – Ordered, Rational and Geometric!

We finally got round to visiting the Barbican today to see the UK’s biggest Bauhaus show in 45 years, and boy was it great!! Mention the word Bauhaus to most people, and it’ll conjure images of tubular-steel chairs and cubic, flat-roofed buildings, but the school’s functional style took a while to develop. The collection was large and varied ranging from metalworks, furniture, prints, glassworks, all hugely impressive and inspiring… Walking round and seeing each piece close up reminded me what an amazing impact this movement still has on design today.
